Jeppesen - Cirrus: Transition Training
Project type
Computer-based Training
Date
April 2006
Location
Centennial, Colorado
In 1990, the world-wide transportation industry joined together to prepare for a transition. Manufacturers were ready to switch from analog dashboard and cockpit instrumentation to digital. That meant a whole lot of pilots, engineers, captains, and drivers were going to require training and recertification.
Cirrus was the first aircraft manufacturers to roll a product off the assembly line in 2001 with what was then called "The Crystal Cockpit." This title we produced at Jeppesen helped orient and set expectations for pilots making the transition to the new all-digital instrumentation.
My role at Jeppesen designing, creating, and maintaining and Flash framework for creating whatever type of computer-based training Jeppesen needed from simple page turners to software simulations to full multimedia SCORM compliant applications. The Cirrus project came along well into my time at Jeppesen. It was SCORM compliant. I really learned and understood SCORM better after this project.
